Evighet/Undergång is the third release of the Black metal artists Nasheim. It's simply the 2 previous demos put into a compilation, which sums up to 44 minutes of raw and agressive black metal. When I review albums of bands that are pretty underground, I usually end up saying the same stuff over and over again. ie: "Needs to be more unique, a less generic sound, better production, etc..". But "Evighet/Undergång" clearly stands out of the BM crowd, which is already a huge accomplishment. I have to admit i'm quite impressed by all this, I thought i'd be getting some generic and uninspired BM.

What makes this album stand out is a combination of agressive top notch guitar work, mixed with great production and some really evil vocals. The acoustic guitar interludes which come in almost every song give a very desperate and sad atmoshpere to the music. The songs' length really satisfy the listener, and what's missing in Nasheim's music is definitely not riffs. Nasheim can come up with many riffs per song, which makes the songs totally enjoyable. Something i've noticed in the past about certain BM albums is that most of the time the bass isn't really shining out, but this doesn't happen in this album. A little bass "doodle" can pop in at any time during a song, which adds variability to the music. The cover of Bathory's 'Blood Fire Death' is nothing but amazing, the sound is raw and and the vocals really shine out in this one, as does the bass. The stand-out track on this release has to be 'Undergang', which sounds a lot more desperate than the other songs, even if the vocals could've been slightly redone.

Overall, Nasheim's first compilation is nothing but admirable black metal mixed with great vocals, oustanding guitar work and remarkable bass lines. Highly recommended.
