15 Years Of Soul Grinding... 1990 - 2005...
This live DVD state the concert that took place in 2005 to celebrate this French band's 15 year anniversary. A blast of a show from Strasbourg and a show that has ignited my lust to see the band perform live in person, hopefully they'll hit somewhere around here soon.
23 of the band's good and blasting death/grind tunes are what we get in our face, the band is on fire from the start and performs like there were no tomorrow, a really intense and energetic live performance, catching both the audience and whoever watches it behind the screen. It is amazing how the band comes out over the stage and into the living room, props up for a really good and wholehearted show and performance. The atmosphere in the venue is boiling and the sound is punishing, a really good and clear live sound, pounding out of the speakers. The camera work is well done too, the band gets caught in many good angels, and the clipping is great as well, quite chaotic at times, though that catches the atmosphere of the show, performance and music perfectly, there are so many things going on at once, and the quest for catching it all on film, is really successful.
The audience is also caught by the music and intensity from Inhumate, from the first note, and is spellbound throughout the whole concert. Often more on stage than on the floor in front of it, a lot of moshing is going on, on stage and vocalist Christophe is interacting a lot with the frantic fans and gets his deal of hugs and pushes, though he seems like he enjoys it.
Extra material on the disc are 2 recordings from '93, which is fun to watch, for nostalgic sake, a clip from '95 which are in pretty bad quality, though the things which makes the band really good now, are shown in full effect in that performance. Then we have a track from a festival in Praha, again a blast and then lastly a track from '03, the insane 'N.D.S.'. The bonus material is good and its fun to watch the band develop from a quiet start into the stage monster they are nowadays.
It's quite strange that Inhumate hasn't been picked up by one of the bigger labels yet, as they have delivered their deal of well played and intense grinding death metal through out the years, though I'm sure this DVD will open many eyes towards the band and perhaps give them the final push towards the acknowledgment they deserve and have worked hard to get, a killer and energetic live show caught on tape for our pleasure.
