--In brief--
The Swedish band Maze Of Torment has been effective executors of harsh and speedy thrash with a good amount of death metal in it, over the last 10 years. Trough the years the band has leaned more and more towards pure old school thrash, and it is in that genre the band excels on their new album "Hidden Cruelty".
Take a good deal of classic Slayer and a good deal of classic Kreator and you more or less has this album, that is both good and bad, as this, so far is the least original release from Maze Of Torment. Most of the music on this album seems like its been heard a 1000 times before, and that's a shame, as the band usually doesn't have any problem with putting their unique stamp on their material, though on the other hand, the album is also the most varied I've heard from the Swedes.
I've personally been blown much more away by the band's previous releases, especially "Hammers Of Mayhem", "The Unmarked Graves" and "Faster Disaster", though if old school thrash makes you tick and 'bang your head no matter what, this album is mandatory.
