--In brief--

Nominon, Sweden's prime merchants of old school blackened death metal, harsh, raw and straight in your face metal of death. This album is a compilation of some of the band's earlier material, goodies from '97 and up, a treat for those who didn't get hold of the promos and 7"s, and there are also a couple of tracks in unreleased versions.

There's of course nothing new under the sun here, just plain and classic Nominon material, raw death metal with more than blasphemic lyrics, going from slow paces to faster and pummelling ass-kicking. The riffs are raw and intense, the vocals in your face and filled with evil hatred and despair. The sound is shifting according to what release it's from, and that is charming, compared to a release where it all is mastered into the same level, that takes away the original atmosphere from the music, and often some of the intensity, so props up for keeping the original levels. The 3 covers of Voivod, Whiplash and Repulsion do also slam in skulls. If you are into Nominon, this release is a must have, unless you have the originals of course, even though a buy can be justified for the artwork alone.
