Oath To Vanquish is a Lebanese band delivering brutality en masse! "Applied Schizophrenic Science" is their debut album and it offers gory metal of a character that will scare weak souls far far away.

The music is an insane blend of heavy and blasting death metal and furious and grind elements. Into that the band has mixed grim and hyperspeed black metal elements. The base is in heavy and blasting death metal, brutal tunes of loathe and bloody tales, heavy and punishing riffs and grooves, pounding drumming, varied well between straight ahead mid-tempo grooving and fast and well-delivered blast beats. Into that the band mixes cold melodies and and grim sinister riffing inspired from the old Nordic black metal scene, a great contrast to the heavy death metal, in some ways it reminds of the first Diabolic album "Supreme Evil". The songs are well written, even though they are brutal and often very fast. The good hook lines in form of the grooves, which makes it easy to identify the tracks and make them stick faster, works well. The vocal is a fierce screamy rasp, that could have gone as well in a black metal band as here, but it works well and is highly effective and adds a good dose of evilness and hate. The scream is getting alternated with a guttural and grim growl from the nether regions of hell, and especially when the 2 vocals work together it all reaches a higher wholesome, a great symbiosis!

The first thought from many when hearing of a metal band from a place like Lebanon, a country in the fucking Middle East, is that it must suck big time, though with such a prejudiced mode, those will miss something really good. Not that I've heard many bands from the Middle East, though the few I've heard have all been good, and Oath To Vanquish is no exception. Perhaps not the most original music, but hard hitting and really well-played and brutal as fuck. What more do we need of a death metal album? Not much, a solid album, a tad better than the grey middle-mass can always be enjoyed! And be aware in the Northern parts of Europe, Oath To Vanquish will soon embark on a tour in those areas, don't let yourself miss this band!
