A metalized version of progressive fusion jazz is a pretty accurate description of A Triggering Myth's music. A journey through emotions and shifting music, a chameleon's play on a painter's palette. It would be a lie to say this album was easy to get into, it really needs the right mood and a good amount of patience, and then of course an open mind. Though give "The Remedy Of Abstraction" the time and effort it deserves and it will please you.

The musicianship displayed on the record is amazing, the musicians involved in this project really know how to handle their instruments and getting the best out of them. The compositions are also quite well made, there are a few hooks, though not that many, as the music shift a lot and not many parts are being repeated throughout the duration of the album. That is both a good and bad thing, as many music listeners tend to need something to grab onto to, to be able to follow the music. Though this way of composing is a treat for fans of technical and intriguing music. It has to be said, the more time there is used on the album, the better the songs sticks to ones mind, as many of the songs have some quite unique moments. The production of the album is also good, the music flows organically all the way trough, and the instruments are presented well and have a lot of space to play on, it never becomes too messy, crowded or complex, a good mixing job.

A Triggering Myth is delivering some quite astonishing music, that a lot of open minded people into the more technical and progressive side of rock and metal can enjoy, there isn't that much metal about it, there are traces here and there, though the progressive jazz fusion rules the sound picture and universe of the band. A small comparison can be drawn to Planet X, without the 2 bands being similar as such, more the way the approach the music I guess. Another great thing about this band and album, is the violin they utilize once in a while, that adds a lot to the atmosphere and drive of the music, a touch of genius from the composer's side. The keyboards delivered on the disc are quite outstanding as well and I am sure they'll wet a lot of keyboard freak's pants. This is an album to be played repeatedly, soaked in and then enjoyed, though when enjoyment first kicks in, it won't let go, believe me in that!
