A whole smashing live show with Gojira from Bordeaux, recorded in 2003, and so far only released on the French market. Though after Listenable picked up Gojira, they are now ready to unleash this well made DVD onto the world. A good choice as the DVD has made Gojira fans rave, so a nice move to make it available to an even bigger audience.

The emphasis of the release is of course on the live gig from Bordeaux, though there are some nice bonus features on the disc as well, and as they are the weakest link, pun intended, on the release, let's start with them. We get a whole bunch of older recordings with the band, as a song from the band's 3rd gig, 'Saturate' played live in 1998, 'On The Brink Of The Abyss' from '99, 'Possessed' from 2000, 'Satan Is lawyer' from '02 and 'Lizard Skin' from '03, most of them amateur recordings, and some haunted by a bad sound, but nonetheless, it is quite funny to see how the band has developed as a live band throughout the years, so all in all a good feature. The other bonus feature is the band's attempt of making comedy/action movie clips, I guess if one is good old drunk or influenced in another way, the bonus clips might be fun, though if not, they'll only be watched a single time.

The main gig on the DVD is in a class for itself, a great recording showcasing a band on fire. The level of energy Gojira delivers is amazing, the band gives it all and sucks the audience in. The songs are delivered straight on, very tight and hard hitting, the technical yet brutal metal the band delivers is a perfect for live situations. The audience is with the band from the start to the end as well, we get a lot of headbanging and a lot of stage diving, and from the looks of it, the band enjoys each second. The light-show of the show is well done, and fits the atmospheres of each track well, and it adds to the whole experience, especially when sitting in the living room watching it. We are also getting some good picture manipulating effects and well done clipping throughout the whole show, the editors have used a good deal of time making the final DVD, no doubt about that.

The sound of the show is good as well, raw with a great live feel, but still clear enough for the insane and technical drumming goes straight through the wicked walls of guitars, which are enormous, while the leads are clean and cuts through bone and marrow. The bass is heavy and can be heard almost all the way through and the vocals are well placed on the top of the music.

If there was any doubt about it, this album is a must have for all fans of the French band, and even people not into the band, or those who have felt like checking them out, can be a part of this, as the music delivered live is very drawing, and the impression the band delivers with their live performance, does not leave any prisoners behind!
