Metal-core vocals, metal-core/melo-death sound. No, no, no, NO!!! *bangs head on wall* But, there's something different. But enough difference to set it apart? Hm... maybe it's more of a melo-death/thrash sound. Or maybe metal-core/thrash sound. Hm...... this isn't half bad. Furia is a band that resides from Macon, France, and gives the whole scene their own little touch.
The opener, 'The Descent Of The Warrior', packs all that Furia is into one 3 minute package. Yes, the metal-core/melo-death sound, but there is something different here. Their use of keyboards and somewhat abstract melodies is a welcome change to the mundane. Decent soloing, too. The drumming caught my ear on 'The Imperfection Of The Soul'. The start-stop sound and interesting use of the keyboards, and wall of sound used on 'Errare Humanum Est' definitely makes it a standout song (I just wish I could understand French). 'Isolement' is a cool little instrumental. One thing that I noticed was really catching my attention was the drumming. It was good, I mean really good. 'Insomnia' is another really good song that appeared. The rest of the album is more of what was already given, as 'Lamentation', 'Evil Spell Approval', 'End Of A Belief, The Beginning Of A Truth' are really good examples of what this band can do.
This one took me a while to get past the metal-core/melo-death sound, but it was worth it. It takes a few listens to really appreciate what Furia have done here. It's not phenomenal, but it's definitely worth checking out. Hell, I have a feeling I'll like this more with even more listens.
