This relatively new band hails from England, more precisely Worcester and Birmingham and delivers a blend of heavy death metal and fierce hardcore. Not the most aggressive and straight in your face release that has seen the light of day.

The base is mostly in heavy riffs, which have the hardcore crunch, catchiness and groove, they are varied with a good deal of melodic leads and some more up tempo death metal riffing once in a while. The pace is mostly mid-paced and sometimes even slower. The mid-paced heaviness and all the heavy breakdowns make the momentum disappear and make the record seem like it stands still, a bit too often. The monotonous guttural growl is kinda boring and becomes annoying pretty fast, the raspy growl would have fitted better if it had been delivered faster and with more aggression, as it is now, it lacks passion and emotion, and that kinda ruins the effort.

As such, the compositions are well made, they follow pretty traditional patters of metal and don't offer many surprises during the 11 tracks, and a surprising twist or something that would have pulled the chair away, would have helped the album stand a bit out. The musicians seem to be decent, there are some good chugging riffs here and there, and some of the melodies are well performed, even though a good deal of them sound familiar. The crunching bass and the drums do also deliver their backbone to the music as they should, though they don't do that much more. The production of the album is as heavy as the music and lacks some energy, some energy and intensity would have lifted this album a lot.

The Seventh Cross does a good mix of hardcore and heavy and melodic death metal, what they need is something of their own, some wicked twists on the music and some intensity, as the music as it is now, becomes quite boring after a couple of spins of the album. The heavy and dark music simply drags itself forward by the claws, I miss momentum and the feeling of getting my ass kicked, the feeling such music as this should bring.
