Zyklon is back with their third full length album "Disintegrate". Having been a fan of the first two albums, the anticipation of this album has been building for a little while. All of the core Zyklon elements that we know them for have returned (crushing, speeding death metal, some electronic lacing, and a few vocal samples with the lyrical powering of Bård "Faust" Eithun) along with a few other things (I will get to that part shortly). Their sound really has not changed too much. Some people do not find that attracting in a band when their styles tend not to evolve, but if something isn't broke… don't fix it!
There is however a few minor changes with the elements in this album that the other two albums did not contain. With that being said there are a few things to address. The first of which is in track three, 'The Ways Of The World' starts off a little thrashy, has a great center, nice guitar solo, builds up as the best song thus far on the album, but towards the end of the song there is a huge Americanized metal-core style breakdown, built for the "pit dancers" and moshers, that ruins the rest of the song. Take that how you will. There is also some extra filler on this album. The Zyklon tribe has decided that for this album that they need to slow it down more in a few places. During track eight, 'Wrenched' there is more than enough of the drawn out, slow down, breakdown parts and that becomes rather monotonous and tedious to listen to. There are a couple other parts on the album that this takes place, just not as apparently as what takes place in 'Wrenched'. And finally there are a few more of the cleaner vocal parts that almost don't fit the album, but it isn't too bothersome.

Despite the two tracks mentioned above the album on the whole is still a solid release. If you already are a fan of Zyklon, you should already know what to expect when you listen to the album. You will not be disappointed. There is really not a whole lot more to be said about this album for you. If you like Zyklon, pick it up, pure and simple. It should have you from the very beginning. You will be ready for the 'Vile Ritual' to commence and be happy for the 'Vulture' to peel your skin away when you get there.

If you are not familiar with Zyklon you need to expect an earshot of clean, pummelling death metal that will have you making your best ugly face, horned-fist in the air. The musicianship on this album is excellent. Trym is a constant reminder that most of us don't practice nearly enough. His fast, brutal drumming is definitely a highlight on this album as the previous two. Samoth and Secthdamon keep the riffs going with hammer forced intensity and rhythmic pace of the mid to upper tempos. Last but not least, Destructhor rounds out the line-up on lead guitar adding the mixture of influence from thrash and some early 90ties death metal solos included. There are very strong points in almost every song on this album; even the filler tracks have a certain catchiness to them!
