The true metal wave seems to have calmed down and settled into a couple of handful of established bands. One of these bands, is the Danish quartet Iron Fire, who keeps on pushing the word of metal upon the world. This is the band's 4th album, and actually the first album of theirs, which I have heard in its full length.

From the first second of the first song on this album, traditional heavy/power metal is served upon us. Majestic epic tunes, delivered with power and passion and all the classical metal deeds. The originality is not present, but the will and love for the music are. The band handles their instruments really well, and there are good moments from the guitars, bass and the drums, but nothing really extraordinary. The focal point in the music is the killer vocals from Martin Steene, his voice is amazing, and once again he shows what he can do with it. Not many can scream as powerful and passionate like him. Though his voice is somewhat better when he sings with his lungs full power, than when he sings calmly in the more quiet tunes on the album.

The compositions of the songs on the album, are both the albums force and weakness. We get what we need of sheer power, melodic treats, majestic moments and epic atmospheres. Though many tracks are using the same blueprint, both within the album and from earlier songs. So it tends to become a bit boring at times, as one often thinks to oneself, that it has been heard before, and that's quite a shame, but I guess people into this music know what they'll get when they throw on an album.

This is far from a revelation of bombastic true metal, but a solid album with some good tracks and others not really reaching that height. All the elements and moments a fan of this genre can expect are present and there are many possibilities for a good deal of headbanging and air-guitar duels. This is a sure buy for Iron Fire fans, others might give it a listen first.
