Do you miss the golden period of American thrash, from the middle of the 80ties to the early 90ties, then fear not, a German quartet is here to save you and bring your head back in a headbanging frenzy. Abandoned is going straight back in time and delivers a thrash feast, which might as well could have been recorded somewhere in San Francisco in 1991 and not in Germany in 2005.

Fierce guitar riffs rips open the skies, and showers us in classic thrash compositions of forgotten ages. The assault Abandoned delivers are very classic thrash, though delivered with a lot of emotion and energy, the boys know what they are doing and they like what they are doing, and that can be felt. The riffing is raw and straight forward, very gripping and charming and on top of all nostalgic. There are some really good and neck-snapping riffs among the barrage of artillery being fired upon us. The leads and solos are great as well, especially some of the noisy solos fit perfectly into this old school thrash universe the band has created. The production is as such thin, though gives a great, though a bit more modern, picture of how the production was back in the heydays of thrash. The drums has the characteristic "live" sound, raw, straight forward and noisy, just like I like the drums to sound, as they don't seem processed. The bass is also having a lot of room in the sound picture, even though there are 2 guitars present. The 4 stringed battle axe can be heard all the way through the album, rumbling away and delivering really good sounds, a good and technical bottom to the music. And a very good move as it more or less always is living its own life, and just not following the guitars, nice! The vocals might need a little while to get used to, they are raw and melodic in their own way, not hitting many keys straight on, but very charming and the rawness brings a lot of life to the recordings, the singer takes on the task unimpressed and brings hell!

A blast from the past, newly created and delivered with today's standards. Not bad at all, an enjoyable album that's for sure. If you are into thrash and as I, think much if the music has gotten a bit too modern at times, then you'll 'bang your head to this album, from the day you get it, to it's worn out! This is classic thrash leaving no wishes behind. Not original at all, but has its charm and the vocals gives it its personal touch and the way the boys deliver the music, you can't pinpoint exactly 5 bands that they sounds like all the way through the album, good compositional skills indeed! It is going to be very interesting to follow this band in the future!
