Last year the bombastic epic power metallers from Italian Rhapsody did a world tour as special guests on the Manowar tour "Demons, Dragons And Warriors". This occasion they used to record, what later would turn into this, their first live album. Recorded in Montreal, Canada, with an enthusiastic audience and a band on fire, delivering the goods.
We are treated with an hour of some of Rhapsody's timeless hymns, I don't know how much time and effort producer Sascha Paeth has used on the raw recordings, before they were ready as we can hear them on this disc. No matter what, the sound is amazing, it is huge and serves the compositions really good, together with the live-atmosphere leaving the speakers and enters the living room. The sound is clear and all the details can be heard, together with a lot of crowd noise and singing along, just as it should be. The atmosphere the band invokes on their studio recordings, are transferred onto the stage, and it is like being in the middle of a play, while they deliver their tunes displaying ancient adventures.
Rhapsody is hitting the stage with a lot of energy, and transfers that to the audience, which throws it back, there is a good interaction between the band and the crowd. Fabio Lione has the crowd eating form his hand, and controls the battle in a good manner. The band is delivering their music almost flawless and very hard-hitting, all the details are present, and the bombastic and epic atmospheres are working just as good here, as on the respective studio albums, Rhapsody is a strong live band, that is for sure.
This is a good live album, showing the Italian band from their very best side. A must for all Rhapsody fans, and actually a good place to start for people who want to check the band out, as the music works well here, and are a bit more energetic than on the studio recordings. This is one of those live albums, one always will return to, due to the great atmosphere and the great delivery of the tracks.
