The 3 Musketeers of Metal. Say what? – Therion that is, people. Demonoid is a ‘project’ of 3 full-time Therion members. And Rickard Evensand from Chimaira filling in on the drum duties. You know what, forget about Therion even, they don’t match up to this debut. It’s ferray-ferray-gut that these guys decided to make worthy of their free time and focus on some real metal. Old school Death, combined with the necessary Thrash and Black metal influences. 4 out of 9 songs are opened by some outstanding drum fills, the first track ‘Wargods’ is one of them. Rickard sure as hell surprised me by showing his talents in this debut, his best work so far if you ask me. The production is fucking A+, which makes the whole feeling surrounding this album just bigger and bigger every time when paying it a listen. This is excellent, the riffs are played very tightly on the double bass-parts, which probably makes it an arousing live-act. The standout track is ‘Firestorms’, and meh, why? Simple – pure fucking insanity! These riffs are so goddamn devoted to Swedish fury, anger is just rotting out of it. Demonoid have proved themselves to be different than from all the other endlessy counted Swedish Death metal bands out there. Ladies and gentemen, do yourself a pleasure, and pick this up – for the love of Satan, these guys deserve it. But remember kids, this is not a record to be playing in front of your grandma. She’d be riding off to the Apocalypse in before you know it.
