Jigsore Terror - World End Carnage
Release: 2004Label: Listenable Records
Here is a new Swedish band which kicks serious ass! Jigsore Terror delivers old sounding death metal notes, mixed up with harsh grindcore, and it results in a hard hitting cocktail.
Even though the band varies very well between heavy and fast riffing, it is the speed that has the upper hand. It is not that bad, as the band knows how to alternate between the riffs. The song writing is good too, there are a lot of fat hooks, and you don’t need many listens to the album, to be able to tell which track is which. The album catches the ear very fast, and sticks.
The guitar side of the album is very good, catching and brutal and most importantly varied. There are some very crushing death metal riffs, fast grinding parts and some very high energetic punky things. It all fits well together and creates a wall of mayhem. In the back of the sound picture, we do have the bass, it makes a lot of noise. It is getting a good beating and screams for more.
The vocal is raw and in your head, as it should be. Though it is not the screaming kind of vocals, which normally goes hand in hand with this kind of music, and that is actually refreshing. The vocal is deep and raw, and reminds me a bit about a young Dave Vincent, and that is not bad at all. The drums are pounding all the way through the album, and damn those poor things get their ass kicked. The drumming is good and varied, both regarding variation of drum patters and use of all the drums and cymbals.
It is a good debut album these Swedes have made. It demands a lot of listening and headbanging, and it is hard to remove the disc from the player. This is a good deal of grindcore, which I am sure will give the band a following really fast. It will be great to hear more from Jigsore Terror, they have the balls, a lot of other newer bands lack.
