A new Danish band has emerged, this time a band that will make their mark on the death metal scene, this is their first demo, and even though it has the occasional flaw here and there, and at all doesn't seem like a very finished product, the music is pretty good and does give the listener some promises for the future.

The band makes a good blend of European and American death metal, when many death metal bands start out, they tend to sound a lot like one band, though I think Cyanid has avoided that to a certain extent. Yes I could easy pinpoint 10 bands, though what's the fun about namedropping? The guitar work on the disc is okay, not that inspired to be honest, the riffs are more or less rehashed, though the band has worked them good into the songs, and they do their work really good, and lays a heavy bottom for the music. The bass is heavy as fuck as well, and lurks behind the walls of guitars all the time, it is more or less audible all the time, and that's a big plus. The drumming is stable and there are some good off-beat elements that works, and the double kick drum work seems pretty stable, okay drum-work, a technical approach that works, and nicely varied as well, both rhythm- and pace-wise. The vocals are a deep guttural growl, there isn't much variation over it, but it works well in this context and the pronunciation is good, and it is after a few listens possible to follow the lyrics sung.

This is a very good first demo, to be honest. There are of course a lot of official releases a lot better and more original, though that's not that strange. I like Cyanid's approach to the style and their unimpressed way of attacking death metal, and I’m sure with some more practice and development, there will wait a deal around their third demo or so. They have good elements and a fresh approach, and it seems like they know how to handle their instruments, and do have a flair for writing good and catchy songs, that's always a good start. I’m sure this 4 track demo will get more spins here, and if you're into heavy, relentless and brutal death metal, you should check it out as well.
