The Crown singer Johan Lindstrand is now ready with the first attack from his new band, with the long banner, One Man Army And The Undead Quartet. A blast of hellish and rock n' roll fuelled death/thrash metal, which will hit you straight in the face, and take you down with it, though approach it with caution, it may cause severe neck damage.
Many have expected this band to follow up the legacy of The Crown, though they don't. Yes the band does deliver death/thrash, but nowhere as hellish and furious as The Crown. This is more mid-pace based, heavy as fuck and hard-hitting. There is a killer rock n' roll feel over the music, and that drive that gives, helps to keep the momentum up and drives the music forward. The riffs presented on the album are good and crunchy, not that smashing and a bit common, but they do their work and keeps the energy up and the music alive. The vocals are good, the typical Lindstrand blend of a scream and a growl, it becomes a bit monotonous at times, but I do like it and it fits the music and the overall dark atmosphere on the album. The music is pretty catchy and the heavy riffs demands headbanging, and that is the main-force of the album, and I am pretty sure that the music will kick serious ass in live situations.
The production of the album is heavy and crushing, very fitting for the music, and the sound has a big deal of the music turning out as good and crunchy as it does, a thin production would have killed the music totally.
A pretty good debut album, with a good drive and some crushing guitar work, not that innovative or anything, but solid death/thrash with some atmosphere and a good driving rock n' roll feel here and there. This could be a band that could start some serious ass-kicking sometime in the future.
