Melodic death, even when a supergroup attempts it, it still comes off as played out. This band's members come from Green Carnation, Blood Red Throne, Carpathian Forest, Neon God, Dismal Euphony, Trail of Tears and so on. You'd think that, since it's a supergroup of members from established bands, that this would be a really good album. Guess again...
The keyboards are useless. There are two vocalists, one for a clean voice, one for the coarse or screamed vocal (this is getting OLD). The first four songs are your typical modern melodic death/metalcore songs. Original? Hell no. At least 'And Then There Was None' has moments that could be cool at live shows. Despite the keyboards in 'Crucifixion', it comes off as a decent song with melody and tempo changes. Yet, that song seems to be the only somewhat unique song to the album. 'Project Savior' isn't too bad, either. 'Trapping The Vein' is *hack* crap. And the next few songs aren't much better. I can't pay attention to this album...I just can't. At least 'Winter Princess' has a good sound to it, to end the album on a decent note.
I know that's not much to say about it, but that's really all there is to it, after listening to it several times. It's boring. Just plain boring. Listenable, but not for longer periods of time or often. No hooks, no originality, nothing. At least it was better than the new Callenish Circle album, but not by much...if at all, to be honest. This album has no second chance with me. There is no more to say.
