The time has come for the second album from the German hard rockers in Razorback. We get all from quiet atmospheric rock, to more classic 80ties driven rock to more heavy rock with a metallic edge.

The compositions are as such good and well-written, the music is varied, as well as the rhythms and different elements. There are many good vocal hooks and melodies that hang on. The vocals are good most of the time, once in a while tends to get too whiny, and that is a shame. The drive and edge they have on for example 'Vampire' is really good and hangs on. The same can be said about the music displayed there, it is very energetic as well and is one of the most driven songs on the album. Though a problem on the album is that it often gets to atmospheric and loses some of the so important drive, the momentum disappears and it becomes a bit too boring and generic, the music tends to start a chain of thoughts, but instead of them being a compliment to the music, they take over and the music drowns. The sparse use of electronic elements is a good feature, which adds a bit of darkness and mysticism to the music.

The production of the album is nice and quite heavy, it fits the music well, the guitars are coming well through and the bass is audible at all times, the drums are placed well in the mix and the vocal on top of it all leads the battle.

A decent rock n' roll album with a good deal of different elements involved and the classic ballad in 'Hard To Say Goodbye', though I miss some punch and some more attitude, I want a kick in my face at times. Some more individuality and originality together with some more straight ahead tracks would do Razorback good, the talent and traces of something good are present, I am pretty sure that the band will become much better within time. I'll end this with the title of my favourite track, even though it isn't that original 'A Good Day To Die'!

Rating: 5½/10
