Deathfare comes from Norway and they released their first self-titled and self-produced demo back in 2004. I got this demo from Stian himself, the drummer of Deathfare. I listened to it and liked the demo immediately. I've seen on their website that they have done many gigs in Norway, now I hope they soon will release a new demo or their debut album, so they can tour more and hopefully abroad.
Deathfare plays death metal but they also include nice black/thrash influences which gives them their very own identity. All tracks are really good and well executed.
The demo opens with 'Breathtaking Moments'. The guitar playing is heavy, the voice is growled and deep and the drumming is fluid and contains really cool blastbeats while the bass plays aggressive lines as well.
On the second track, the bass takes over a strange discussion and the guitar riffing is very inspired during 'Fistfull Of Fuck'. The solo in the middle of the track is brilliant and the drumming varies with fast and also heavier/louder parts. The singer uses a vocal that I really appreciate here. More technical moments appear here and there which maintain the high level to this intense composition.
'Unfaithfully Yours' opens with accoustic guitar which gives a nice atmosphere and then it dives to something louder and faster. The vocal is deep and grim. The guitar plays an angry line and the solo is again killer. Stian has a clockwork's regularity and really nice technical skills. The outro on acoustic guitar closes beautifully this impressive track.
Another killer track is 'Kitchen Massacre' with its faster beat and aggressive riffing. The growl is deep and some alienated screams lurk on this intense and fresh track.
The demo ends with 'Warden's Trial' where a black feeling floats around. Impressive drumming, the fast riffing and the inspired solo gives a lot to this track. Again the voice is well executed and really angry. I also have to mention the sense of humor at the end of this last song.... If you're into death metal be sure to check them out!
