This is a re-release of the American black metal band's 7" EP from 2000 released by Ma-Kahru with 2 bonus tracks recorded in 1998. Profane Productions has risen after some years of silence, and this marks the return of the cult. Limited to 150 copies and in the Profane trademark black cardboard cover with a wax-seal with an A, simple, aesthetically and effective!

The tracks from the 7" are a good display of old Norse-style black metal, the rawness and hatred from early burzum and the sound, atmosphere from Darkthrone era "Panzerfaust", and even some riffs reminding me of 'Natassja In Eternal Sleep' from "Under A Funeral Moon", in the track 'The Fires Return'. The sound is cold and atmospheric, very fitting to the 2 black metal pieces. They are not that original but they work well, and do have the feeling and atmosphere bolted down, good work. Weaved into the scenery are 2 ambient pieces, the good 'Within The Realm Of Blackfrost', a dark sphere, cold and eerie industrial sounds and a whisper from the depths below, that track induces a good and dark feeling within the listener. The ambient outro isn't that interesting, it's there and it's heard.

The 2 older track are pure ambient, with nice industrial feel involved. The spheres invokes darkness, melancholy, frustration and coldness, one feels very desolate when listening to the tracks. They pull one of the reality and into a dark vortex, with no end. Bleak visions of a non-existing future are all there lies ahead.

This is not a release for everybody, people into black metal will might be a bit disappointed when they find out, there only are 2 black metal pieces on here, but which 2 tracks, they are worth the money I'll say. The ambient parts will for sure satisfy the ones into dark bleak ambient, no doubt about that, even though the 2 last tracks do remind a lot of each other. This is a good buy if you are intrigued by the above, though you better act fast.

Rating: 7/10
