When I receive an album consisting of a band paying tribute to their heroes, I at first think: "Do we really need this shit, a good waste of my time and the fans money, this is just to score an easy buck". Then I give the album a listen, and often do I get carried away by the energy and enthusiasm, the band puts into the cover versions and the greatness of the picked tracks.

The same chain of thoughts and reactions as described above happened when I saw and listened to this album. But damn, how do Exhumed deliver the versions of the songs picked in a convincing way. All the tracks sounds, reeks and feels like Exhumed, pretty impressive. The band slays the chosen tracks and delivers them with a lot of energy. Everything from punk classics to Metallica's 'Trapped Under Ice' to Led Zeppelin's 'No Quarter' gets through the grinder and gets Exhumanized and turned into death/grind pieces.

Production-wise is the album good as well, a noisy and raw sound, reminding of the early releases from the band. The guitars are ripping, the drumming pounding, with a vicious snare drum. The bass is often huge, I'm especially impressed by it in 'Trapped Under Ice'. The vocals from Matt Harvey rip the spine out and invoke multiple internal haemorrhages. The album is also guested by former Exhumed member Mike Beams who delivers his trademark rumbling low growl.

This is one of the better albums of bands paying tribute to their heroes. These kind of things always seems to carry me away, maybe it's the fact that most of the older tunes are better than the ones written nowadays, who knows. Though if you are a huge Exhumed fan, this is a must have, others might have to give it a listen first. It might be a good idea to pick up the album as well, if you recognize any of these song titles: 'A Reflection', 'All Murder, All Gut, All Glory', 'Pay To Die', 'The Power Remains', 'Uninformed', 'Necrophilia', 'The Ghoul', 'In Fear We Kill', 'Twisted Face' and 'Drop Dead'. If those song titles didn't give you a clue, your homework till tomorrow is to find out which bands that made the originals!
