Divercia - Cycle Of Zero
Release: 2004Label: Karmageddon Media
Two years after their debut album Divercia are back with a new album, “Cycle Of Zero”. I enjoyed their first album and was looking forward to what they would come up with next. I must say I was quite surprised when I first heard the new album. The band has evolved a lot and go for a more melodic and more aggressive approach than on “Modus Operandi”.
This album is definately a huge step forward from their previous effort. This time the band live up to their name, the songs are well-composed and much more diversity can be found. On the debut album vocalist Jyri Aarniva sang with clean vocals on all tracks except two. On this album he uses both clean and harsch vocals during the songs, which adds more depth to the music. Divercia draws influences from many different genres. There’s some gothic metal, some melo-death and even some progressive elements. Mix all those and you have a small hint of what Divercia sounds like. Aggressive and melodic but with that special something that makes it sound so elegant. The keyboards play an important role in creating the massive athmosphere of the album. If you don’t like keyboards in general I doubt you will like Divercia’s style that much.
The production of the album is perfect and the band can definately be proud of their work. If they progress in the same direction like this they might become really big one day. The metal-scene needs more unique bands and Divercia is one of them. Definately give them a try if you’re tired of hearing the same thing over and over again.
