Another Australian thrash metal assault is about to hit us. Destruktor have been a long running force on the Australian scene, even though we haven't seen many releases from them yet. The band was formed in 1995, but has been haunted by line-up problems, a never ending problem for Aussie bands it seems. Though now they're ready with the CD version of this mini-album, which also are planned to be released on LP and on picturedisc as well.

Old school thrashing madness with a slight chaotic edge is what the force of Destruktor is delivering. It would be a lie to say there are any new elements to be found in the music. It is a pure old school worship of ass kicking metal, delivered in a fresh and energetic way, with killer vocals. The vocal duties are shared between the drummer and the guitarist; they are both handling 2 tracks. Both are low, one lower than they other, more or less a spoken growl, where the other are somewhere in the middle of a spoken growl and a more normal low thrash scream.

The pace of the tracks are nice, from mid-tempo to fast, not that varied, but varied enough to one doesn't lose the interest. There are some good and catchy riffs now and then, some reminds me of Slayer other of Kreator, but they are still very charming. The music is direct and in your face, a nice slap of brutality. The songs are well written, and offers brutality, catchy parts, blasts and a couple of good guitar solos. The rather thin production fits the music very well, and adds to the old school atmosphere, this could as well have been made and released in 1990 as last year.

If you as me are a sucker for old school thrash attacks, this album will rock your world. The direct and fresh approach without forgetting the roots are great and the music is well-performed and well-written. This is straight ahead maniacal thrash with chaotic scents of death and black metal, as only the Australians can make it.

Rating: 7,5/10
