Dark, melancholic, misanthropic atmospheres moves from the speakers and embrace all in the room. The eerie coldness of this American one man band's music moves as fog and is just as thick and smothering. Either you are in such a dark place without hope, that you will find hope in this, or then you'll be brought down on your knees, begging for mercy and light when the music stops to play.
The riffs are slow, cold and repetitive. Almost ambient in their way of getting inside your head. The rhythms are simple and mostly slow, driving slowly ahead, catching the listener in its drive and holds you tight and spellbound. It calls out for darkness and no more light than a handful of candles can supply.
All on the demo are very simple, but also very effective and spellbinding, it is hard to let the demo go, when it first have started to play. The compositions are well crafted, and emotional. They take us on a rollercoaster ride of dark and suppressed emotions. There are a lot of ups and downs, but always kept bleak and sombre. The vocals are ugly, a growled rasping whisper, nightmare-inducing.
"Lusting Dissolution" is a pretty good start for this band. The music is interesting all the way through. Even though it all is kept simple, it works and brings the right atmospheres across. To compare to something, it must be Burzum's ambient works, even though this is made of guitar, bass, drums and only very little synth. A great demo from a band I look forward to hear more from!
