All Shall Perish is an fairly new death/metalcore attack hailing from the States. After switching from the Japanese label AVR to Nuclear Blast things have been going well for All Shall Perish.
This disc mixes a stunning amount of ugly brutal noise. What's for dinner tonight? Take a look at the plate and find some great Death metal, combined with blackened thrash moments meets metal/hardcore. The opening track 'Deconstruction' completely took my attention, it starts with this fading growl which comes in along with the riffs and blastbeats. Some nasty stuff right there! It made me think of some old Morbid Angel times and got me ready for the next doze of metal to follow.
Let's go on to another song, 'Our Own Grave'. It starts somewhat laid back, but takes a fast technical twist with Meshuggah-alike timings. After a minute or so it completely changes into this blackened thrash orgy. And vice versa back to the technical twisting. Goddamn, what a track. The closer 'Herding the Brainwashed' is probably my favorite track off this disc. It takes all the genres and noise I mentioned earlier and creates this big fucking brutal rampage. Expect the Meshuggah-alike timings, the Morbid Angel DM speeds, the early Kreator blackened thrashness and the metalcore effects combined in one big assault.
The entire album is filled with songs which contain quite some memorable moments. But in overall, let's be honest... ASP bring nothing new. But hell, when you perform the way ASP does, there's no need to be. They completely deliver.
They're right on the ranks showing they have potential to become even more interesting with future follow-ups. The vocals kind of strafe throughout the album mixing brutal growls combined with notable screams. The bass is more than audible, completely sailing over the precised blastbeats. Oh, and the riffs? Expect some melodism here and there. But all you anti-harmony freaks should not fear. ASP makes it up with stunning technical death metal which should appeal to all.
Fans of Morbid Angel, Suffocation and Nile. Pick up this disc. It's worth the cash, plus you owe your head some banging.
