Powergod-Long Live The Loud - That's Metal Lesson II

I was blown away back in 2001 when the German metallers Powergod released "Bleed For The Gods – That's Metal Lesson 1". An album containing nothing but cover versions of good old killer metal tunes, and with performances of a lot of the original band members and other guests. The "1" after the title indicated, at least one follow up album, but as time passed and the only thing we heard was delay upon delay of the supposed release, my hopes faded. Until the day when this album ended in my post box.

This time we are treated to bands and tracks like: 'Long Live The Loud' by Exciter, 'Bombs Of Death' by Hirax, 'I'd Rather Be Sleeping' from the underrated crossover thrashers D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles), 'Motormount' by Anvil and 'Total Desaster' by Destruction, to mention some of the more hard hitting tracks on here. All tracks are well performed and hard hitting as hell. President Evil, Riff Randall and Hama Hart are all delivering top notch musicianship and a great deal of enthusiasm.

Though to make a hard hitting and well-sounding album, shouldn't be that hard when you are backed up by guests as Minoru Niihara from Loudness, Lips from Anvil, Ferdy Doernberg from Rough Silk/Axel Rudi Pell, Schimer from Destruction and Tom Angelripper from Sodom. The last mentioned delivers vocals on the excellent version of 'The War Drags Ever On' by Tank. Powergod has succeed!

The album is recorded and produced by the Midas Twins, and they are known for delivering sharp sounding productions with much power and a great mix. That is also the case this time. A great and hard hitting production with a lot of power behind it.

This is the together with "Bleed For The Gods – That's Metal Lesson 1" one of the best party records around. All our favourite heavy, power and thrash metal tracks from the 80ties, delivered with sheer power and a lot of energy and together with a lot of the original band members. This is cover versions with a bit more color and flavour added to the recipe, this rocks!
