Dismember - Where Ironcrosses Grow
Release: 2004Label: Karmageddon
Four years since Dismember latest release. The wait is over and \"Where Ironcrosses Grow\" was well worth the wait.
No one can deny the cult status of Dismember, and don't expect something else than old school Swedish death metal style, but again, Dismember have stormed the death scene. Real faithful to the genre, the enthusiasm is back in music and well outgiven on this new record.
Heavy death metal riffs are just flowing out on every single song, sharp guitar melodies follows and the solos sound clean and fresh. The bass just slaps you in the face, Fred Estby is in brilliant shape and the drumming is just so damn good. Matti Kärki's vocal performance is just great, he spits out the lyrics in amazing growls, but you can hear almost every single word, and the lyrics, they are just enormous.
The album starts with self-titled album track 'Where Ironcrosses grow' and gives a taste of pure old school death metal. Then comes 'Forged with Hate' with the charging of a gun and your neck will follow on the blasting drums.
On 'Tragedy of the Faithful' brutality and melody are so well mixed. Well, all the tracks are powerful and the production is extremely well done, very sharp and clean, you can almost pick every note apart.
Four years, a change of label and constant delays might have extinguished the patience of any die-hard Dismember supporters in wait for this album, but the finished product is guaranteed to satisfy anyone who wants to hear real Swedish death metal. The covert art is also well done and made by Dan Seagrave.
