Orakle comes from France. This trio plays Sophisticated Black Metal. They have already recorded a demo back in '99 named "Neath The Rapture Streams" and a MCD "L’Ineffable Emoi De Ce Qui Existe" in 2002. Today "Uni Aux Cimes" is their new virulent and first official effort which is out now on Melancholia Records.

I have to admit that Orakle delivers something special even if it has already been done before, their compositions are all very well composed. They play some complex, sophisticated and inspired black metal which is purely Scandinavian-like and makes me think of Emperor and Arcturus but also Opeth.

When you take a good listen to Orakle's music, you will find lyrics written in French, an interesting voice, a great sense of melody, theatrical moods, atmospherical waves, intense and vicious riffs filled with a strong black metal feeling. The whole deal very raw.

"Uni Aux Cimes" opens with a minute-long deep and strange intro named 'Emergence' which is followed by 'L'Instant Du Dessus - Le Puissif', raw sound, brutal but melodic heavy riffing, blasting drums, the growl is on, and then a break, ghostly choirs straight to the fast ending, maybe a bit long but well executed.

'Le Distant' is much darker, and does also contain many good and fast parts during the whole track. The voice is growled and is theatrical as well at moments, the atmosphere is on its place.

The opening of 'Gnose' floats on a slow melodic structure, very atmospheric, a keyboard appears just to give strange tense. Then it gets more twisted and fast until it fades out, a well executed musical moment.

A chilling feeling appears when 'Uni Aux Cimes' ends. This track has a collection of great leads, the powerful, furiously technical drumming of Clevdh gives a lot to the track, the voice is great, a mean thrash/black track with some Emperor feeling and an Arcturus echo inside, with well placed keyboard notes and this great specific raw sound. This is an impressive one, a really good track!!!

'Instables' is a mid tempo track, the bass line is good, the riffs are not the best on this track. The voice is à la Arcturus on some high theatrical notes. Probably the less inspired song on this album.

Clean guitar opens 'Le Seuil Ardent', this song has something progressive in it, Opeth influences appears here and there. Then comes 'Abyssale', a very good track with many different tempos, the drumming of Clevdh is again amazing, Amar Ru shows all of his talent as a guitarist, and Archenar is a good vocalist indeed, a trumpet also appears in the middle of the track, and melts together with dark but aerial keyboard notes. The album ends with the short outro 'Oui'.

Listen to the album and you will after many listens, find a bunch of great musical treasures. We will probably hear more of Orakle in the future.
