"Another Golden Rage" is the fourth offering of German heavy/power metal band Lanfear. The band was formed 12 years ago, and I can't say I've ever heard of these guys once. This album has some pretty interesting moments and interludes which have good instrumentation, like in 'Eclipse', the short instrumental in the middle of the album. Hearing this track alone would probably get you interested, but when everything is said and done, "Another Golden Rage" is just another forgettable and unmemorable album.

Sure - the talent and the performance skills are all there. But this doesn't shine out in any way at all. I've listened to this many times and I've tried to find something that sticks out, or perhaps a riff that sounds original, but I couldn't find anything. Every single song on this album, excluding the lovely interlude, 'Eclipse', sounds generic, uninspired and just plain boring. In every shape and form, no matter what happens, you always know what's about to happen. This fact generally isn't something that ticks me off that much, but this is power metal. Most Power metal albums released in the past year or two sounded boring, and that's simply because everything's been done to death before. As usual, Lanfear are good musicians, and they definitely have the song writing and performance skills it takes, if only they released this album 20 years ago when the classics weren't copied a million times already. The band tries out something different in 'Eternally' where different synths are used (this song is not metal). Yes, the vocalist can sing, but once again this is the type of song that's been done too many times before.

Overall, I can listen to this album as many times as I have too, but the point is that there is nothing special about this album, absolutely nothing that makes you coming back for more, nothing that makes you think "Hey, this is original". Another talented band gone wrong.
