Mumakil + Lost Sphere Project + Berserk For Tea Time
Mumakil, Lost Sphere Project, Berserk For Tea Time
4th of October 2005
L'Usine, Geneva, Switzerland
On the 4th of October we went to see Mumakil, Lost Sphere Project and Berserk For Tea Time at L'Usine in Geneva. It was the 5th date on their first European tour and it felt good to see Mumakil on stage again.
We arrived quite early that evening and met many friends out there, so good atmosphere came from many good beers and I also did a razzia at the merchandise section that night.
Berserk For Tea Time opened the hostilities tonight. It was the first time I saw them live and they played intriguing chaoscore with many good moments.
Next on stage was Lost Sphere Project and their special noisecore is not so easy to catch in my opinion. They move a lot on stage which gives extra power to their difficult tracks. Well, I didn't catch their entire set, I thought it was a bit long, together with many complicated tracks, and it just didn't do it for me that night, as I'm not so keen abiout their music. Though they have a whole bunch of energy when on stage.
Mumakil came on stage, it was late for a tuesday evening but the wait was worth it. The sound was good, even if they had some problems here and there, but the powerful songs played tonight had a great impact on me. A whole set of brutal death, grindcore, more heavy weight sludge and even progressive grind filled the venue with a really good and tight set of 29 brutal and well executed tracks.
Thomas on vocals is impressive, he growls like a beast and jokes in between the tracks which gives a nice atmosphere to the set. Jéjé on guitar is as always very precise and delivers incredible fast riffs while the rhythm section spreads an intense and powerful veil of brutality out to the audience. Taverne on bass is concentrated and Seb on Drums is very technical and fast, it's always a real pleasure to see them perform live.
