Coldworker started the night, though they seemed to be thinking more about the ferry they had to catch right after the gig, than the gig itself, so we got a half hearted set from the Swedes. There were a few times the band ignited themselves and the audience as well, though most of the time it seemed quite stale, a shame when knowing how energy fuelled their music can be. Though there were some highlights and I enjoyed most of the show, but most of the crowd was tough, for Coldworker, to get their music through to, but I'm sure the band can deliver a gig with tons more energy and sheer terror than the show they delivered tonight.

Next up was the thrashing madmen from Germany, Dew-Scented, they started out in front of an empty floor, it didn't seem like there were more than a handful that knew the band on beforehand, though the brave Germans didn't give a shit and thrashed on, and within 3 tracks, the floor was full of thrashing people, talk about contagious energy. The surprise of the night, they band has never caught me with their albums, not that the albums are bad, though they are seldom more than decent thrashers, but this night Dew-Scented gave a lecture in being metal as fuck. The band became tight after the drummer found himself after a few tracks, and from thereon the whole band delivered energy and a lust to deliver and play metal, seldom seen on the small stage. An awesome performance from the Germans, and as a bonus they announced that they will come back to Aalborg in November to create havoc at the Aalborg Metal Festival 2007, I guess many were glad to hear that after the show the Germans put on tonight.

Then it was time for the headliner this night, the American death metal monster Misery Index, brutal as fuck death metal, with a good deal of grindcore mixed into it and socially and politically aware lyrics, and for some reason the whole venue was psyched to see and hear the band, I hadn't in my wildest imagination thought so many people would have been into Misery Index up here, but awesome to see. The band started out with a lot of energy and brutality and kept it like that the whole way though their set and people were going crazy. Misery Index is tight, very tight and delivered their music on stage, like a freight train, damn their brutality shines through and they put on hell of a show. Jason Netherton was eager to prove himself as well, and damn he did, smiling and joking and still putting on his brutal attitude when the music was grinding away, a good frontman, Sparky Voyles was on fire as well, hell the whole band were, and all delivered over the top, a killer gig. Guitarist/vocalist Kloeppel is fitting the voice of Jason well and his boyish happy smile in between songs were awesome to see, and the machine behind the drums Adam Jarvis, evil, damn he's fast and precise, those drums got a bad beating. And for the encore the band pulled Leif from Dew-Scented on stage to share the vocal duties with Jason, and drummer Andreas was on stage screaming for a while as well. Awesome night and 3 great bands delivering their music to a frantic crowd most of the night, all in all a good threesome giving a lesson in grinding metallic thrashing madness.
