Take a glimpse into the world of the Maltese black metal band Martyrium, with our new writer Steffi. She visited the band in their rehearsal room and got a good chat with the band, you can read the result below.

This Ending
Feb 20, 2007 by Anders
This Ending a new Swedish band, or is it really, the 5 members vocalist Mårten Hansen, guitarist Linus Nirbrant, guitarist Leo Pignon, bassist Jesper Löfgren and drummer Fredrik Andersson, all played together in the now dead A Canorous Quintet, a band that haunted our ears up through the nineties and then disbanded. The members since played in bands as Guidance Of Sin, Niden Div. 187, The Dead and not least Amon Amarth. Though in 2005 the 5 guys started to play a little together again, which resulted in the band The Plague, which changed their name to This Ending and they are now ready with their first album "Inside The Machine". I hooked up with screamer Mårten and got a good chat.

Weltenbrand
Oct 18, 2006 by Anders
Weltenbrand, a band hailing from Liechtenstein. Delivering an atmospherically blend of gothic metal, darkwave and classical music. Enchanting spheres of folklore and melancholy, a great journey into forgotten realms. I hooked up with singer Dina-Falk-Zambelli, wife of composer Oliver Falk, and she eagerly answered all my curious questions.

Prototype
Aug 4, 2006 by Anders
Prototype blew me away with their debut album "Trinity", which received its European release in 2003. Right after the European release the band had tons of plans and was more or less ready to go ahead with their next release, though suddenly it became awfully silent from the Prototype camp. We are now writing the year 2006 and suddenly a new Prototype album ended up on my floor. The new album "Continuum" follows the style the band introduced with "Trinity", though much better. I soon hooked up with vocalist and guitarist Vince Levalois and he  brought me up to speed on things and tells us all there is to know about the past, present and future of Prototype.

Bludgeon
Aug 3, 2006 by Anders
The hardhitting band from Chicago has returned with a furious attack of hardcore infused thrash metal. The new album "World Controlled" is an aggressive lesson in how to deliver highly effective and hardhitting hardcore and thrash metal. I got in touch with vocalist and guitarist Marc Duca to hear what the band had been up to since their last album "Crucify The Priest" and what the new album is all about.

Anger As Art
Aug 3, 2006 by Anders
Steve Gaines might be a name that will sound familiar among all you old school thrash metal fans outthere, if not you are about to find out who he is. He is soon ready with the second album from his own band Anger As Art , which is entitled "Callous And Furor". His debut album has just been re-released by Old School Metal Records, the selftitled album is a treat of old school thrash, all the things great about the genre are included on the album, together with a good amount of passion and emotion. I hooked up with Steve to find out what drives him and what Anger As Art is all about.

Doomtree
Aug 3, 2006 by AvNatten
If you have never heard the name Steve Zing before then it's about time you did! He has been cranking out tunes for over 2 decades now and is most notable for his work in Samhain. The multi-talented musician is back again now with his newest band that goes by the moniker of Doomtree. Don't let the name fool you, this is not a doom band but rather a highly energetic fusion of rock, punk, and metal. So sit back and enjoy while Zing answers my questions about his past, present, and future.

Gadget
Aug 3, 2006 by Anders
The Swedish grindcore sensation (as some tends to call them, and I am not sure that I disagree) is now ready with their second album "The Funeral March", yet a furious grindcore album. The new album is more nuanced than the debut "Remote" and offers quite a good deal of bleak and doomy atmospheres, on top of the all out grindcore attack. Gadget isn't a band that follows trends, if some, they create them! I got a good talk with mainman, guitarist, vocalist and drummer William Blackmon.

Act Of Gods
Aug 3, 2006 by Anders
Act Of Gods is an exciting French death metal band that really caught my attention with their new album "Maât", an excellent album showing great songwriting, brutality, speed and a nice technical touch. And on top of that, the album is a lyrical concept album dealing with quantum physics, I had to dig deeper into that and got hold of vocalist Ventylator who eagerly answered my questions.

Slave Zero
Jul 25, 2006 by Anders
Slave Zero hails from Ireland, and delivers a violent slab of death metal blended with a good deal of hardcore aggression. The band consists of great songwriters, and together with their hard-hitting music, they also have a strong lyrical side. I got in touch with guitarist Eddie O'Malley and vocalist Graeme Flynn and they both eagerly answered my questions.

Coldseed
Jul 25, 2006 by Anders
Coldseed a new band with its base in Germany, but besides 4 Germans, a swede and a spaniard have joined the force that makes up Coldseed. The band delivers a crossover of older and more classic metal deeds with modern and straight ahead metal, a quite fascinating blend. I hooked up with the one German without a record in Blind Guardian, the great guitarist Thorsten Praest who gladly answered all my curious questions.

Calabrese
Jul 25, 2006 by AvNatten
In the stark Arizona heat a band called Calabrese has emerged from the desert. Fusing punk, rock, and a good dose of spookiness makes their songs best enjoyable on the darkest of nights. I had an interesting chat about the band, what inspires them most, and ghost hunting with brothers in blood Bobby and Jimmy Calabrese and they let us take a trip into their world of horror.

Nauseant
Jul 18, 2006 by Anders
Nauseant is a pretty new death metal band hailing from Sweden. Though they don't deliver the typical slab of Swedish melodic death metal, instead we are getting served heavy, technical and obscure death metal, an interesting mix based on great compositional ideas. The band has just released their first demo "Abysmaltican", which shows a young band, with good ideas and a lot of will on their way ahead. I had a good chat with vocalist/guitarist Kalle Fagerberg.

Angel Blake
Jul 11, 2006 by Anders
Angel Blake, the new band of Marko Tervonen, who made himself known as the shredding force in The Crown. Nowadays he has put thrashy death metal on the shelve and concentrates on delivering atmospheric and dark rock inspired heavy metal, though still with emphasis on guitar driven tunes and excellent play. This day today Angel Blake consists of Marko, singer Tony Jelenovich, guitarist Christian Älvestam, contra-bassist Örjan Wressel and drummer Janne Saarenpää, all wellknown names for most of you. Though when the band's first album "Angel Blake" was recorded, only Marko and Tony were around, Tony took care of the vocals, while Marko did the rest. The album is quite good and I hooked up with a very cheerful Marko Tervonen last night and got a good chat about the band.

Audrey Horne
Jul 11, 2006 by AvNatten
Cold and dark Bergen, Norway has been interrupted by a band of hard rockers that are giving the fans a taste of something unique in this day and age of copycats and clones. Audrey Horne have planted their boots firmly into the realm of  hard rock and metal with their first release "No Hay Banda" which takes you on an exciting ride through their well crafted songs. Sit tight while guitar mastermind Arve Isdal answers my inquisitive questions about the bands present and future and much more!

Stonegard
Jul 6, 2006 by AvNatten
There is a band on the rise in Oslo, and they might not be what you would expect from such a place. Combining melodic metal, stoner rock and a taste of the extreme, Stonegard are gearing up to take over the world. They call their style of music "multi-metal" a label which fits due to the broad scope of their sound. I caught up with Ronny, the man controlling the lead guitar and he gave me the answers to my barrage of questions.

Mendeed
Jul 6, 2006 by Anders
Mendeed a pretty new band hailing from Scotland and ready to conquer the world with their insane blend of melodic death metal, thrash, traditional heavy metal and much more. The band has just released their debut album "This War Will Last Forever" on Nuclear Blast in Europe. The album has been available in Great Britain for some months, and has made quite a hype over there. I hooked up with the band's singer and lyric writer David and he willingly told a lot about what Mendeed is all about.

Red Circuit
Jun 19, 2006 by Anders
A new progressive force has risen, this time from Germany. Red Circuit is the child of Markus Teske, which many of you know for his production skills. Though he does also know how to write, arrange and play music. Red Circuit consists of known and lesser known names as Chity Sompala, Frank Bodenheimer, Tommy Schmitt, Oliver Noerdlinger and of course Teske, and on top of that the album is guested by Stephan Lill, Stephan Forte and Patrick Rondat. I got in touch with Markus and got answers to all my curious questions.

Pure Inc.
Jun 19, 2006 by Anders
Pure Inc. a energetic rock band from Switzerland, ready with their second album "A New Day's Dawn". An album that offers great rock n' roll, straight forward music, with a layer hidden behind the surface, so there is a basis for digging in deep and spend many hours on the album. I hooked up with singer Gianni Pontillo to hear what drives the band and what they are all about.
