The Polish progressive metal and rock scene seems to be enourmous and different labels are getting their eyes and ears directed towards the country. The Laser's Edge released the album "S.U.S.A.R." from the Polish band Indukti last year. Indukti is an exciting band to get into, even though it takes a while to get all the impressions from the band to settle. We have guitars, bass and drums as usual, but also violin and harp and beautiful vocals delivered by Mariusz Duda, who you might know from Riverside. Normally Idukti delivers instrumental music, though had Mariusz to perform on this album, which by the way is recorded live in the studio. If you are intrigued by different progressive rock/metal acts, Indukti will rock your world and make you flow away.

Hi there, will you please start off by introducing yourself?

Hi, this is Lawrence and Ewa here. We are part of what is called Indukti.

A small introduction of the rest of the band will be great as well, together with a bit about what they contribute to the band with!

Ewa – plays the acoustic and electric violin. Formerly in Robot which supported Pati Yang and was led by the well known guitar player Robert Sadowski (ex-Kobong) as well as Kokszoman, Halucyna and Vein. Then we have Peter Kocimski – guitar, plays all kinds of ethnic instruments such as didgeridoo and sax, ex-member of Vein. Maciek Jaskiewicz plays guitar and is a co-founder of the thrash metal band Lunatic Asylum. Wawrzyniec Dramowicz is our drummmer and a member of numerous classical and rock music projects. Last we have Maciek Adamczyk – bass, formerly in Bajkonur (jazzrock) and Namaste (pop-rock)

You are soon ready with your new release, how do you feel about it?

The second release will be more exciting for us because it is even a bigger unknown than the first one. We like the first one but since we have been moving forward in terms of music and everything else it is going to be just amazing.

What do you expect from it?

As we said the new CD will contain a lot of new ideas, twists and unexpected solutions. There is going to little compromise but there will always be spatial, transitory sections that we do cherish so much in our music.

When you started out to write/compose new material, what did you then want to accomplish with it?

When the band started composing music it was quite a long time ago. When the final line-up came into existence and we finally realized that the band is taking the right direction we decided to put the music on the CD. The songs has undergone many changes, has been reshaped and rearranged a number of times. We financed the recording ourselves, spent countless hours in the studio and we really worked hard trying to move all our ideas from our heads onto this CD.

Do you feel that you have accomplished that?

We think that we have accomplished the main thing - we managed to make a good CD, one we can be proud of. We didn't have a lot of studio time and taking that into consideration we are even happier. Of course there are things we would do differently right now, but the chapter is closed. Now we have to look ahead and be able to withstand new challenges.

Where do you find inspiration when you write music?

Inspiration is around us. Everyday events, the history, the music we listen to, the things we do. At a certain point it just all comes together.

Is there anything specific that have influenced the writing process to the new album?

There cannot be anything in particular providing us with inspiration, there are so many things surrounding us. This is inspiration, something transitory which can be caught perhaps only once. We keep our brains open to new things, in terms of music and we like so many different kinds of music, pieces of art and we approach things in so many different ways that I sometimes think it's a miracle how this machine is able to work…

Can you mention 3 bands and 3 that have meant the world to your way of writing music/singing?

Ewa likes King Crimson and their 'Larks' Tongues In Aspic', Pearl Jam's 'Garden' and Radiohead's 'Wolf At The Door’. Peter is a great fan of Kobong and Sieges Even, Wawrzyniec likes Metheny's 'Au Lait' and Dimmu Borgir's 'Mourning Palace' as well as Russia's national anthem. (Even though we are Polish)

What do you want to bring the world with your music and how do you want people to receive your music?

We want our music to stimulate the imagination, to be understandable for everyone regardless of where it will be heard around the world. This music is not meant to impose anything, each of the listeners can interpret it his or her own way.

Will you initiate us in the lyrical universe of the band, which themes do you touch etc…?

We are an instrumental band. Indeed Mariusz Duda made a guest appearance, however we approach his voice more as another instrument. The lyrics??? They are about love…;)

Where is the inspiration for the lyrics usually found?

This question we should directed to Marta, a friend of Mariusz's who is the author of the lyrics. We are grateful to Marta for her contribution and we might get in touch again before the next album.

Will you pick out your 3 favourite tracks from the new release and guide us through the music and lyrics, and tell us how you got the idea for the music and lyrics, etc…?

We don't want to disappoint you but we don't have favourite tracks on this album. Perhaps the first one… 'Freder' mainly because it was the last one written before the recording session. Also the way it came to life when we kept adding different ideas and started realizing how powerful and interesting creature was being born. At last Mariusz made a final statement with his vocal lines and …here we are.

How important is the lyrics compared to the music?

We know it is quite unpopular nowadays to say so but the lyrics are not very important in our case. I mean there is no hidden theory behind the lyrics, they do not represent some mysterious ambiguity. The attitude may change, who knows but thus far the lyrics have been meant to blend with the music and not really be up front with some terribly important message.

Do you have any touring planned in support of your new release?

We have some shows lined up in Germany, Poland and perhaps Holland later on. It's all being worked on and we will keep our website updated for you guys.

How do you look upon the future of the band?

The future looks bright providing we keep working hard. We have released a good CD and there is nothing else to do but make the next one much better. We hope to share our music with the fans in Europe and around the world.
