Anubis Gate
Mar 15, 2005 by Anders
I've been hooked on this great band from the first listen I had to their debut album "Purification". Anubis Gate is soon ready with their second album, so to get fully updated, I hooked up with mainman Jesper M. Jensen and asked him some questions.

Ancestral Legacy
May 11, 2005 by Stigma (previous writer)
In this interview, we hear from Eddie Risdal in Ancestral Legacy.

Amok (CH)
Jul 2, 2005 by Anders

When I first was introduced to this band, I wasn't too impressed. Their first effort "Necrosapiens" was good, but not that special. Some time went by, and I was handed their second release “Hephaistos” and was kicked to the ground. The band had evolved a lot and delivered some killer death/grind with tons of crazy additions of technique and jazzy parts... A display of sheer maniacal power. I got in touch with the vocalist Ugo, who after a couple of asskickings returned my questions, with some good answers.

Arch Enemy
Jul 20, 2005 by Anders

The first listen I had to this Swedish band's new album "Doomsday Machine" was rather dissapointing. I have enjoyed the most of the previous material that the band have released, espeically their last 2 catchy albums hit the nail at the first listen. Though I looked back in time and remembered that the band's first couple albums didn't catch on at first. After some more listens the dark atmosphere and cpmplex song writing started to open itself, and revealed a hell of an album. All the classic Arch Enemy trademarks, spiced up with darkness, a bit more complexity and some new ideas. The vocals delivered by Angela Gossow do also sound a lot better and more brutal, she must have been working hard on her vocals since the last album. Angela Gossow, Micheal Amott, Christoffer Amott, Sharlee D'Angelo and Daniel Erlandsson have once again made a great album. A late afternoon I was suposed to have Angela call me to talk about the new album, though when the phone rang, it was Daniel in the other end, and that didn't turn out as bad, after I got the questions tweaked a bit a long the way. We went through all from the new album and the inspiration for it, what Arch Enemy aims at, a lot about Daniel's drumming and much much more.

Alarum
Jul 31, 2005 by FIZD
Being a huge fan of technical metal, I could kick myself in the arse for not finding out about the Australian band Alarum sooner. At first when I listened to a few tracks off their new effort "Eventuality", I guess I was in a fucked up mood, because the tracks didn't do much for me. But as it's always the deal with technical metal… it takes more than one listen to get into, to find out about the technical abilities of the musicians, to have your yawn cracked open an inch more than before, every time you find another note you didn't catch at first. Alarum range in the level of great classic names such as Cynic, Atheist, and Death. I had a talk with vocalist/bassplayer Mark Palfreyman about Alarum, and their latest disc "Eventuality".

Arsis
Aug 21, 2005 by Anders
Another spawn of the Willowtip/Earache coooperation is the American band Arsis, which by the way means silence. There isn't much silence about the band's music though. A nice blend of melodies, hardhitting thrashy death metal, a good display of technique and dark atmospheres. A band to keep an eye out for, they are bound to make some noise in the future. I got a good chat with mainman and vocalist/guitarist James Malone  (Jim) and drummer Michael VanDyne (Mike) about Arsis' debut full length "A Celebration Of Guilt", the European release of it, their musical influences and so forth.

Audiopain
Sep 17, 2005 by Anders
I was quite amazed when a friend turned my attention to Audiopain, after having heard him praise the band a lot, I bought the album "The Traumatizer" and what an album, hardhitting, noisy, brutal and slaying thrash with elements from death and black metal, and even some jazzy notes. Time went by and earlier this year, the band had its 2 first releases "Contagious" and "1986" re-released by the American label Vendlus Records, as soon as I had picked those albums up, I set up an interview with the band, and now 3 months later I am ready to publish, hehe... But as they say great things take time... Petter the slaying bassist answered my questions.

Arcturus
Oct 1, 2005 by Johell

Arcturus is back with a new album "Sideshow Symhonies", the first album on their new label Season Of Mist. They have a DVD in the works and a European tour is scheduled for this autumn, Arcturus calender is fully booked. It's in Norway in August, in magnificent and trollish surroundings, during the Mølla Festival in Gjerstad, where the band's studio is located, where Patricia and I met Knut Magne Valle and Steinar "Sverd" Johnsen, to talk about the future of the legendary band. And the future looks as bright as the constellation that represents them.

Astral Doors
Nov 12, 2005 by Anders

Astral Doors, a band that has made quite a impact on the heavy metal/hard rock scene with their first 2 releases "Of The Son And The Father" and "Evil Is Forever", one of the few bands that producer Peter Tägtgren finds time to record and produce, in his busy schedule. A scent of old times mixed with the playing techniques and flair of today and great songwriting skills and musicianship. The band is right now ready with the mini CD "Raiders Of The Ark", which contains a track from the forthcoming album "Astralism", a previously unreleased track, 3 tracks only released on japanese editions of the band's albums and a video for the track 'Time To Rock'. A good opportunity to catch guitarist Martin Haglund and get some info about the upcoming album.

Artillery Hell
Nov 20, 2005 by Anders

Artillery Hell is an upcoming American band hailing from California. The trio is consisisting of vocalist/bassist Robert Anderson, guitarist Mike Knittel and drummer Andrew Bailey. The released their first demo last year, which showed a lot of potential. Hard boiled thrash with a nice input from other genres. The band is about ready with their second demo "Decay In Motion" and to get some news on that one and to sum up what the band is about, I got a good chat with vocalist and bassist Robert.

Anubis Gate
Dec 4, 2005 by Anders

Anubis Gate the Danish powerhouse and one of the most prominent makers of symphonic and progressive power metal released their second and amazing album "A Perfect Forever". After I had sent the questions to the band, their singer Torben Askholm left the band, due to health problems and the band delivered 3 good concerts, with Henrik Fevre singing. Drummer Morten Sørensen answered the questions.

ALooP
Feb 2, 2006 by Anders

Late last year the Aalborg based band ALooP released their debut full lenght "Global Crisis" on the Norwegian label Edgerunner Music. I have earlier heard some of the bands demo tracks and caught them live a couple of times as well. The demo tracks didn't do that much for me, though I remember the band delivering their music on stage pretty good. I didn't really have the biggest expectations to "Global Crisis" as I didn't know what to expect from the band and their music anno 2005. Though I was positively surprised as the music kicked much ass. A good blend of old thrash, melodies and some newer influences mixed very well together, into a hard-hitting final product, with great vocals on top of it. I hooked up with drummer Thais Beermann and guitairst Peter Nordahn to ask them a good bunch of questions.

Audrey Horne
Jul 11, 2006 by AvNatten
Cold and dark Bergen, Norway has been interrupted by a band of hard rockers that are giving the fans a taste of something unique in this day and age of copycats and clones. Audrey Horne have planted their boots firmly into the realm of  hard rock and metal with their first release "No Hay Banda" which takes you on an exciting ride through their well crafted songs. Sit tight while guitar mastermind Arve Isdal answers my inquisitive questions about the bands present and future and much more!

Angel Blake
Jul 11, 2006 by Anders
Angel Blake, the new band of Marko Tervonen, who made himself known as the shredding force in The Crown. Nowadays he has put thrashy death metal on the shelve and concentrates on delivering atmospheric and dark rock inspired heavy metal, though still with emphasis on guitar driven tunes and excellent play. This day today Angel Blake consists of Marko, singer Tony Jelenovich, guitarist Christian Älvestam, contra-bassist Örjan Wressel and drummer Janne Saarenpää, all wellknown names for most of you. Though when the band's first album "Angel Blake" was recorded, only Marko and Tony were around, Tony took care of the vocals, while Marko did the rest. The album is quite good and I hooked up with a very cheerful Marko Tervonen last night and got a good chat about the band.

Act Of Gods
Aug 3, 2006 by Anders
Act Of Gods is an exciting French death metal band that really caught my attention with their new album "Maât", an excellent album showing great songwriting, brutality, speed and a nice technical touch. And on top of that, the album is a lyrical concept album dealing with quantum physics, I had to dig deeper into that and got hold of vocalist Ventylator who eagerly answered my questions.

Anger As Art
Aug 3, 2006 by Anders
Steve Gaines might be a name that will sound familiar among all you old school thrash metal fans outthere, if not you are about to find out who he is. He is soon ready with the second album from his own band Anger As Art , which is entitled "Callous And Furor". His debut album has just been re-released by Old School Metal Records, the selftitled album is a treat of old school thrash, all the things great about the genre are included on the album, together with a good amount of passion and emotion. I hooked up with Steve to find out what drives him and what Anger As Art is all about.
