In Battle
Feb 22, 2005
by Anders
There has been a long silent period from the war mongers in Swedish In Battle, though the silence was broken with the EP "Soul Metamorphosis" and later on a new assault was crafted in form of the full length "Welcome To The Battlefield". After the release of "Welcome To The Battlefield" last year, I got the chance to talk to mainman John "ODHINN" Östlund Sandin.

Swedish doom metal band Isole just released their debut album, "Forevermore", via "I Hate Records". And prepare yourself; if you're a avid doom metal fan this album will impress you greatly. You don't even need to be cosidered as a doom metal fan to enjoy this album. I contacted Isole and asked if they were interested in having a chat with me. Crister (guitars) responded qucikly with a yes and here we go....
Impish

This Finnish band caught my interest with their demo, which I found on their website, after they posted the news about it being there, at some boards. It turned out to be some great, though rather special progressive metal. I decided to get hold of the band, to find out what triggered such good and exiting music. The 4 Finnish gentlemen Antti "Amok" Karhu (Guitar and Vocals), Juho Raappana (Drums), Juha Jääskelä (Bass) and Jyrki Hiltunen (Guitar) eagerly answered my questions and they didn’t leave out many details. All 4 of them participated in the answering of the questions and that turned out pretty interesting.
Incantation

Long way back one of my good friends tried to push Incantation upon me, I didn't really like what I heard back then, though he never gave up. A bit later I got hold of the band's debut album "Onward To Golgotha" and it slowly started to grow on me. As the years went by and the more releases by the band I got and listened to, the more fond did I grow of the band. Today I really enjoy their heavy doomy and blasting death metal and do consider them one of the best and credible death metal bands out there. In connection with Incantations latest release "Decimate Christendom" on the French label Listenable Records, were I offered and email interview with them. I quickly jumped the oppertunity and to my joy all 3 band members took part in the answering of me questions. Founder and mainman John McEntee, bassist Joe Lombard and drummer Kyle Severn all added their flavour to the interview. [Please note that this interview was conducted on the 17th August 2004]
Indukti

The Polish progressive metal and rock scene seems to be enourmous and different labels are getting their eyes and ears directed towards the country. The Laser's Edge released the album "S.U.S.A.R." from the Polish band Indukti last year. Indukti is an exciting band to get into, even though it takes a while to get all the impressions from the band to settle. We have guitars, bass and drums as usual, but also violin and harp and beautiful vocals delivered by Mariusz Duda, who you might know from Riverside. Normally Idukti delivers instrumental music, though had Mariusz to perform on this album, which by the way is recorded live in the studio. If you are intrigued by different progressive rock/metal acts, Indukti will rock your world and make you flow away.
Impaled Nazarene

I have been somewhat disappointed over the latest Impaled Nazarene releases, where has all the madness from the first 3 albums gone? I got their new album "All That You Fear" and had eventually to listen to it, and wauw, it blew me away. The good ol' Impaled Nazarene mixed with some of the new stuff and it fucking worked. I soon got an interview with mainman Mika Luttinen arranged, though it was the legendary monster bazzooka player Arc v 666 who answered my questions.

Jigsore Terror

After I received and listened intensely to the Swedish newcomers Jigsore Terror's debut album "World End Carnage", I was about to go crazy. How could a "new" band, eventhough it consisted of some wellknown boys withtin the scene, make so hard hitting and classic sounding grindcore/death metal. So many had tried before, and so many had failed. I had to get some answers, and got hold of drummer/vocalist Adde.
