Excalion is a new power metal band from Finland. On May 17th they will release their debut album "Primal Exhale" through Sound Riot Records. Excalion are being described as a blend of Stratovarius and Nightwish...I contacted them to see if there's any truth behind that description. In this interview I had a chat with drummer Henri Pirkkalainen.
Evil Masquerade

Evil Masquerade from Denmark is not like any other metal band out there; they have a strong unique sound and it’s pretty difficult to tag their music style. You just have to listen for yourself. In this interview I have chatted with front man/composer Henrik Flyman.
Eternity Of Darkness

England hasn't spawned many black metal bands which has made an impression on me, though a couple of years ago I received the demo "Ship Of Fools" by the band Eternity Of Darkness and that impressed me quite much. Time went and I didn't hear much of the band, until a year ago or so, when I bought the 4 way split tape "Order Of The Wolf" where Eternity Of Darkness had 2 tracks on. In that connection I hooked up with mainman and sole member Typhon and got answers to my curious questions. The band is today working on a full lenght album which hopefully soon will see the light of day... Please note that this interview was conducted in January 2004.
Evil Incarnate

Evil Incarnate is a hateful death metal band from the States, band leader Michael Eisenhauer is a man who stands by his opinions and he knows how he wants his metal. Old school with a hellish groove, thundering drums, punishing bass and vocals from the pits of hell. I got into the band when I got their first label release "Blood Of The Saints", which is a compilation of the band's 2 demos, released by DeathGasm Records. Later followed Evil Incarnate's first full length album "Blackest Hymns In God's Disgrace", also released by DeathGasm Records, and later licensed to Europe through Morbid Records. Again strong death metal thundering and spewing forth bile against the church. 4 years since that release have now passed and the band is ready with their new release "Waiting For His Return", which first was meant as a demo, but more material was added, and when the American label Hells Headbangers Records showed interest in releasing the album, it got full length status. The album is now on the streets and to hear what was going on in the Evil Incarnate camp, I hooked up with Michael Eisenhauer.
Exekrator

Blackened heavy metal with a high and mighty scream, piercing skin and bones and making it shiver down the back... Cold and at times catchy guitar riffs, at other times disharmonic and twisted. Good and clever song structures with the element of chaos, lurking around the corner to impose insanity. That could be a way of describing Exekrator's musical output. Earlier this year the Danish band released a promo CD, containing 8 tracks, 4 new recordings and the 7" EP "Superstitionis Maleficiae". The goal of the promo is to find a drummer to the band, which by the way hasn't happened yet, so that position is still vacant. Guitarist Henrik Engkjær and vocalist Tue Brisson took time out of their busy schedule to answer my questions.
Ewigkeit

When I received the music from the British band Ewigkeit, it took quite some while for me to listen to it... For the first record I got "Radio Ixtlan" it took about a year, I actually listened to Ewigkeit's new album "Conspiritus" before the prior one. I was so to say blown away by "Conspiritus" and became rather quick fond of "Radio Ixtlan" as well. That was the perfectly example of not approaching everything with an open mind and be prejudiced against certain things. The music of Ewgikeit is very tough to explain, as well as the ideas behind, so do yourself the favor and read this interview to get the knowledge you need to decipher the messages from Fog and his army of instruments and ideas.
