Usipian
Oct 2, 2005
by Anders
The Danish band Usipian was formed in the year 2000, on the ashes of the death metal band Gothic Domain... Vocalist Toke Eld and guitarist Tais Pedersen carried on the torch and was soon joined by drummer Nis Rode Larsen. There were some line-up changes during the next couple of years, before the band finally settled with guitarist Jeppe Hasseriis and the newest member bassist Kent Værens. The 5 make up a deadly squadron with their base solid tightened in old school death metal, but not affraid of spicing it up with other elements and a nice deal of technical wickedness. If that sounded compelling, you should check out their debut album "Dead Corner Of The Eye" just released by the Swedish label Metal Fortress Entertainment. I got a nice talk with vocalist Toke Eld about the new album and the band in general!
Unearthly Trance
May 12, 2006
by Anders
The American trio Unearhtly Trance really took me by surprise with their debut album "Season Of Seance, Science Of Silence" from 2003. Their second effort "In The Red" didn't do much for me, but when I heard their new record "The Trident" I was once again sold. I got in touch with Ryan Lipynsky who handles the vocals and guitars, and most of the song and lyric writing as well and got a good talk about the band and their music.

Urkraft, the praised Danish death/thrash band is now ready with its second full lenght album "The Inhuman Aberration", which also marks their first release for Earache Records. A great abum that shows a band that has come along way since the demo-days and a mature band ready to conquer other territoires than the Danish. i hooked up with drummer Mikael Skou Jørgensen and got a good chat about this and that concerning the band and their new release!

V:28 are a really exciting thrash/industrial metal band from Norway. May 24th will see the light of their second album called "SoulSaviour". That album will be relased via American label Vendlus Records. Vendlus Records already accept preorders and IF you're among the first hundred who order the new V:28 CD you'll get a free poster! Click here to see an image of this sexy poster (It's a part of the front cover). In this interview I have chatted with V:28 frontman Kristoffer Oustad and singer Eddie Risdal.
Vesania

I got acquinted with this Polish band back in 2003 when their debut full length album "Firefrost Arcanum" was released. A nice round of Emperor worship, with a few interesting touches and promises of a great future. After the album, mainman and guitarist/vocalist Orion joined Behemoth and drummer Daray joined Vader, so I pretty much thought that would be the end of Vesania. Though the band signed with the Austrian label Napalm Records and are noew ready with their second onslaught "God The Lux". An album that shows a really matured band, with many ideas of their own, a very interesting path the band has chosen. I got in touch with Orion and got a nice chat with him.
Vile
Sep 28, 2005
by Anders
The American death metal band Vile is ready with their new album "The New Age Of Chaos", the awaited follow up to 2002's "Depopulate". The band is lead by guitarist and songwriter Colin Davis, who have struggled some to keep a firm line-up together. The recording line-up for the new album is Colin, vocalist Juan Urteaga, bassist Jack Gibson (Exodus) and drummer Tyson Jupin, but who is in the band as we speak, I don't dare to state, it seems like Colin, doesn't really know it as well. I hooked up with Colin and got a good talk about the new album and the things behind it.
V:28

V:28 a band I have heard mentioned around the internet for quite a while, at first I did check out a track of their website, though that didn't really catch me. Earlier (sometime in the spring, ugh) their year their label Vendlus Records sent me the band's first album "NonAnthropogenic", I used quite some time on it, but again it didn't really catch me and I forgot about the band for a while. Then I saw the band play live in late October here in my hometown Aalborg, and it was there they caught onto me, and since then I've been able to understand and enjoy the music a lot. And there is quite an interesting concept and theme behind the band's albums, though I'll not tell to much here, I'd rather let Kristoffer Oustad explain it all to you, so read what he has to say...

They are called Valume Nob and boast a line-up that consists of musicians that many of us will find familiar. So sit back while vocalist Marshall Black tells us all about the Nob.

Witchcraft
Jun 20, 2005
by Anders
When I first heard the Swedish band Witchcraft last year, I was pretty amazed. A scent of Black Sabbath mixed up with pshycedelic rock and a slight folky feel. The atmosphere and feel of traditional doom, adding their own spices and twist. And a very old school, almost 70'ties production, almost making the Cd version sounding like vinyl. A year has now passed and the Swedes are rwady with their second album "Firewood" and in that connection, I did hook up with six-stringer John Hoyles and asked him some questions.
Where Angels Fall
Aug 10, 2005
by Anders
I haven't found come across many great gothic metal releases the past years. Though when I first heard Where Angels Fall's first mini-album "Dies Irae", I knew something great was bound to happen. Huge spheres of dark atmospheres, breathtaking compositions and enchanting vocals. The Norwegian band is soon ready with their full length album "Illuminate", which be released by the Norwegian label Edgerunner Music sometime during the fall. I got hold of drummer and founding member Ole Kristian and got some answers. Even the singer and poet of the band Eirin joined a couple of times to answer questions about the lyrical side of the band.
Witchery
May 12, 2006
by Anders
Witchery the Swedish thrash squadron lead by axemaster Jensen is now ready with their new slab of old school metal worship "Don't Fear The Reaper". I hooked up with the always energetic Jensen and got a good talk about the new album and a bit about what to expect of the future, it all does seem really good!
Wuthering Heights
Jul 7, 2006
by Anders
Before receiving Wuthering Heights new album "Far From The Madding Crowd". I had heard some tracks from their 2 first offerings, though they didn't make me pick up the albums. But after the first listen to the new album, my breath had disappeared, the grandiose symphonic power metal, with elements from progressive metal and folk music, was incredible, a perfect blend of catchy metal and astonishing technique. I hooked up with mainman Erik Ravn and interrogated him about his band.
Weltenbrand

by Anders
Weltenbrand, a band hailing from Liechtenstein. Delivering an atmospherically blend of gothic metal, darkwave and classical music. Enchanting spheres of folklore and melancholy, a great journey into forgotten realms. I hooked up with singer Dina-Falk-Zambelli, wife of composer Oliver Falk, and she eagerly answered all my curious questions.

Zuul FX
Dec 13, 2005
by Anders
It is incredible how many good bands that blooms onto the metal scene from all around the world these days, there are far more good bands than bad bands emerging onto the scene, and that is of course very positive. One of the newer bands is the French quartet Zuul FX, which delivers hard hitting modern death/thrash with a good blend of industrial coldness and modern elements in it, a very brutal, yet dark and atmospheric audio attack. I got a good talk with bassist Shag and mainman and vocalist Zuul about their debut album "By The Cross", what fuels their fire and so forth, a real good and interesting read.
Zero Hour
Dec 19, 2005
by Anders
I was carried into a new world when I had my first listen to the last release from Californian Zero Hour, "Metamorphosis", the album that turned me onto this amazing band, which delivers very technical progressive metal with good songs though, so one never gets lost in the technical frenzy. The band is right now ready with their new album "A Fragile Mind" and are working hard on getting a new one ready for release during 2006, so I have once again established contact to guitarist and songwriter Jasun Tipton, so I could ask him a bunch questions.
