by Stigma (previous writer)
Octavia Sperati is a new all-girl doom metal band from Bergen, Norway. They will release their debut album, "Winter Enclosure", through Candlelight Records on May 9th in Europe and June 14th in USA. Octavia Sperati is founded on doom metal with heavy riffs and a massive, atmospheric expression - and of course the ambition to conquer the world. Their music is not easily categorized and has been associated with the likes of Candlemass, Nightwish, The Gathering and The Third and the Mortal.
Origin

When I first laid ears on Origin's last album "Informis, Infinitas, Inhumanitas", I got literary blown away by the brutal, fast but over the edge technical death metal. Though after the album the very talented drummer John Longstreth left the band. Cannibal Corpse lost Jack Owen, and recruited Origin guitarist Jeremy Turner to fill his shoes on their tour, so he was lost for Origin as well. The band got the original bassist Clint Appelhanz back in the band, now handling the guitar and they recruited drummer James King. Earlier this year Origin released their new album "Echoes Of Decimation" and the band is still kicking hard, very hard. I hooked up with growler James Lee and got it all sorted out!

A new album in the stores, a new record deal as well and a forthcoming European tour. During the Hole In The Sky Festival in Norway I had the chance to talk with Mikael Åkerfeldt over a cup of coffee.
I also have to add that we did this interview in Swedish and it has since then been translated into French for the Transit Magazine and then to English for you readers at Nocturnal Horde. Mikael might have used different words if we have done it it English, but here's the translation I made and I tried to be as close to what he told me. Enjoy!
Of Human Bondage

It is always a pleasure to discover new/unknown bands, to receive or buy a CD that just seems exciting and then being blown away by the contents of the album. This was about what happened when I had used some time on this Canadian band's first release "The Goat Sessions Vol. I". At first the album seemed quite standard, but as time went it grew big and manifested itself as a strong and atmospheric black metal album infused with horror elements, for a good dark, evil and creepy atmosphere. I hooked up with Of Human Bondage mainman Ekim, who glady answered all my questions and went through the album track by track and revealed the ideas beind them.
