Noumena
Apr 11, 2005 by Stigma (previous writer)
Today I posted a review of the new album to Noumena. This album impressed me so much that I just had to contact them. I find Noumena to be the band of the year so far. In this interview I had a chat with bass player Hannu Savolainen.

Nevermore
Jul 9, 2005 by Anders

I have never been a big fan of Nevermore, I like their albums, but it is a long way from there and to be a real fan. When I received the advance of Nevermore's upcoming album "The Godless Endeavour" and gave it the first listen, I wasn't all that impressed. Time went and I gave it some more spins, but it didn't really catch me. It was first when I got an interview with guitar maestro extraordinaire Jeff Loomis scheduled, and I had to give the album a lot of listens in a row, it opened up and revealed it self. Quite funny when Jeff during the interview told me, that one of the things the band had aimed to do with the new album. Was to make a more diverse and layered album, that the listener had to use some time on to let it sink in. Besides that we talked about his way of writing music, his influences, the remix of "Enemies Of Reality" and their struggle with Century Media among other things. Nevermore is today consisting of singer Warrel Dane, guitarist Jeff Loomis, guitarist Steve Smyth, bassist Jim Sheppard and drummer Van Williams.

Neuraxis
Aug 6, 2005 by Anders
I discovered this Canadian death metal force, when their last album "Truth Beyond..." was released in Europe by Morbid Records. A killer album, with lots of speed, brutality and technique. Now with Earache's and Willotip's cooperation, they have decided to re-issue Neuraxis' 3 albums "Imagery", "Passage Into Forlorn" and "Truthg Beyond..." on 2 CDs with a couple of bonus tracks. In this connection I got in touch with guitarist and co-song writer Rob Milley.

Nasheim
Aug 18, 2005 by Anders
I heard about this band merely a year ago, heard a couple of tracks and quickly got the album "Evighet/Untergång" traded home. A great slap of atmopheric and dark black metal, with many influences from viking-era Bathory. I was really impressed by the realease and I still enjoy it very much. The band consist of vocalist, guitarist and drum programmer Erik Grahn and bassist and vocalist Mikael Markström, I got hold of the latter and got answers to my questions.

Naglfar
Sep 4, 2005 by Anders

The Swedish melodic death metal act Naglfar has delivered some really good albums through the years. The new album "Pariah" is no exception, it's actually the best album they have made so far! I was a bit concerned about how the album would turn out, due to the band losing its frontman and singer Jens Rydén prior to the recording of the album. Though I didn't have a reason to worry, co-founder and bassist of the band Kristoffer Olivius does a killer job and the vocals are very fitting. It was also Kristoffer who gave me a call to discuss the crushing new album a hot summer night.

NunSlaughter
Oct 12, 2005 by Anders

The mighty NunSlaughter, a band that has been going since 1987 and never once looked back, but continued ahead and by now have released much material. Where the 2 full length albums "Hell's Unholy Fire" and "Goat" stands out in between a lot of live releases, split 7"s and 7"s etc... "Goat" was originally released by Revenge Productions, but has just been re-released by Hells Headbangers Records in an awesome looking digipack version. In this connection I got in touch with mainman and vocalist of NunSlaughter Don Of The Dead.

Nocturnal Breed
Nov 2, 2005 by Anders

I remember back in 1997 when I was reading several rave reviews of the Nocturnal Breed debut full length "Aggressor", damn I wanted to hear that album. After a good while I finally found it in a store, and rushed home and damn I was blown away... and since then I've been highly addicted to the Norwegian hellish thrash attack. Time has passed by and there have been somewhat quiet from the band for a while, though things are starting to happen again. There have just been released a boxset with all the band's albums together with tons of bonus material, and a forthcoming new release is rumored, so I got in touch with the Norwegian hellsspawn and they were eager to answer all my questions, so go ahead and read what S.A. Destroyer had to tell about the past, the present and the future!

Nuclear Assault
Jan 21, 2006 by Anders

Few bands are as legendary as Nuclear Assault, though still a bit overlooked. The band's comback album "Third World Genocide" released last year through Steamhammer/SPV did get the name out to the masses, even though the album was far from their best, but I guess the demand for the old classics "Game Over", "Survive" and "Handle With Care" now is higher than ever. I hooked up with bassist Dan Lilker and got a good talk about the new album, the band and Lilker himself, a living and breathing legend.

Non-Human Level
Feb 7, 2006 by Anders

Non-Human Level a project brought to this earth by Christofer Malmström, a man most of us know as one of the guitarists in Darkane. Besides his engagement in that band he has made his own musical madness and dubbed it Non-Human Level. With him he has bassist Gustaf Hielm, singer Peter Wildoer and drummer Ryan van Poederooyen all 3 really competent gentlemen. The music has its base in death metal, but is very technical, melodic and over the edge, a real treat for us who likes our metal challenging and well-played. I hooked up with Christofer and here I finally have the answers for you, after they initially ended in the grim vortex of cables and servers for a while, before they reached their final destination, which is here.

Nauseant
Jul 18, 2006 by Anders
Nauseant is a pretty new death metal band hailing from Sweden. Though they don't deliver the typical slab of Swedish melodic death metal, instead we are getting served heavy, technical and obscure death metal, an interesting mix based on great compositional ideas. The band has just released their first demo "Abysmaltican", which shows a young band, with good ideas and a lot of will on their way ahead. I had a good chat with vocalist/guitarist Kalle Fagerberg.
